Dublin

I absolutely loved Dublin! The people here are so friendly and the food is amazing. Surprisingly, Dublin restaurants are very conscientious about food allergies and needs. Pretty much every menu I saw (even in pubs) had notes about whether things were gluten free, etc. Dublin is also a a pretty small city and really flat, so Nadia and I had a great time walking everywhere.

We arrived in Dublin by ferry. The ferry itself was really fancy, but Nadia and I both felt a little seasick on the rough water. Our hostel in Dublin is super cute, clean, and charming.

For our first meal, we went to a little French restaurant around the corner. I had a beer (which repeated at pretty much every meal) while Nadia had tea due to her sickliness. My meal was sooo yummy - chicken stuffed with brie and caramelized onions served with potatoes gratin and pesto green beans.

The next day we stopped for lunch before heading out for some lunch before heading to the Guinness Storehouse. Nadia got delicious red lentil soup and I chowed down on traditional steak and Guinness stew, which was served with mashed potatoes and root vegetables.

The Guinness storehouse was pretty cool. Every Guinness that's served in the US goes through it! They had lots of cool stuff on display, like tons of the different bottles Guinness has been served in, an installation on the barrel making process, and a history of their advertisements.

When you get to the stop of the 6-story building you get a pint of Guinness in a glass room with panoramic views of Dublin. My Guinness had an artfully created clover in the foam!

That night we went on a pub crawl through Dublin. It was the first Monday that people were back at university, so the bars were packed! We made a few new friends and didn't make it back til 4am. It seemed like the rest of the city was going to keep partying without us. I tried whiskey and red lemonade, which was surprisingly good, and we heard some excellent live Irish music.

Yesterday we wandered through pretty much the whole city. Dublin is absolutely gorgeous. Here are a few shots of Trinity College, St. Stephens Green, and St. Patrick's Cathedral.

We stopped for ice cream during the day. I had sea salt & caramel, and Nadia had sea salt & Bailey's. So good!

We had a goodbye, Dublin dinner that was amazing. We both started with sweet pumpkin & roasted pepper soup, and then shared some saffron and chicken risotto and another delicious chicken filet served with potatoes.

We leave for Amsterdam in just a couple hours. I'll miss Dublin!
